NM receives $3.8 million for abandoned mines
NEW MEXICO
The Interior Department has awarded $3.8 million to the state Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department to reclaim abandoned mines near Raton, Socorro, Deming, Lordsburg and Hillsboro.
Other projects under development are near Madrid, Gallup, Grants and Silver City.

Arizona has reached a $30 million agreement with Asarco to clean up three mining properties and to transfer four miles of the San Pedro River to the State Land Department as part of the settlement.
